I began writing UNSEEN FOOTPRINTS during the Covid-19 pandemic. I was floundering in unchartered territory with little guidance. Psalm 77 allowed me to lament God’s unseen footprints. Other laments in Scripture trained me to bring my complaints to God with honesty and realness. When our go-to prayers of joyful praise and polite supplication don’t work, we need lament. We’re not called to remain upbeat, uttering joyful praise when the world is in turmoil. As Christians, we’re called to lament, to stand with Jesus in the place of pain and suffering and mourn with him. The lament prayers in Scripture train us to think and speak the unutterable to God and leave it in God’s presence. If you’ve never practiced the prayer of lament, this book of 31 biblical laments, is for you. It will show you how to pray lament, what words you can use, what emotions you can express and still know God can and will support you. Available at lulu.com
