DARING TO DRAW NEAR. Read your Bible during Lent. Daily devotionals related to the Lenten season will begin on Ash Wednesday, March 6. Stay in touch.
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, March 6, taking us on a journey to the cross, and ending with the joy of the resurrection. Reading the Bible daily is always essential for spiritual growth towards the likeness of Jesus. Reading the Bible during Lent helps us become more focused on the work of Jesus on the cross so that we come to a better understanding how to live in the Way of Jesus. In this present political climate, learning and growing in the Jesus Way isn’t an optional extra. It is essential.
I invite you to join me each day of Lent, reading and prayerfully wondering on select Scripture passages as you dare to draw nearer to our Lord. Each day, readings will be posted on this site through to Easter Sunday. I encourage you to make the most out of these readings by coming to them with the attitude of a beginner, someone who is seeing things for the first time (even if you know the text well) and a humble learner, willing to be changed and to grow into the life of Jesus. Dare to draw near and be amazed.
Reading the Bible has always been essential to followers of Jesus. I've been reading, studying, teaching and writing reflections on biblical texts for as long as I can remember. I invite you to read the Bible with me during the Lent and into Easter Sunday.
